Essence Unveiled Diaries

Thought I’d share with you the ‘behind the scenes’ story of what I’m going through as I ‘re-brand’ and prepare to re-launch Thrivecraft with Maggie Kay this autumn.

Here are my Facebook posts, videos and photos, sharing how it’s been working with Lynda Mangoro who I commissioned to create my new visual designs.

As you can see – it’s all been rather magical!

Thu 21 Jun – summer solstice

Today, summer solstice 12 noon, I ceremonially begin my Essence Unveiled process with artist and designer, Lynda Mangoro.

I’ve commissioned Lynda to support me in birthing the next phase of Thrivecraft with Maggie Kay with ‘branding and design’, but we much prefer to call it unveiling essence!

Lynda sent me a declaration to read aloud and sign whilst burning the candle and incense and wearing a unicorn pendant she chose and provided.

It was simple but surprisingly powerful! Essence Unveiled has begun!

Thu 28 Jun – full moon

Set all my crystals out for a full moon bathe last night (after a salt water rinse).

Was called to stay awake until 3am with the moon along with my love Patrick.

Only got the inspiration to wash and set out the crystals out at 2am!

Here’s how I found them this morning…

The next instalment of Essence Unveiled process with Lynda is dreaming into some questions she poses sitting in the sun this afternoon after a magical full moon night.

And opening up to owning the power of my spiritual and magical nature.

Thanks to Carly Hope and Kimberley Jones who have been inspiring me as they more fully own and express their unique gifts.

Tue 3 Jul – Deep Dive

Wow such a magical day spent with Lynda at the beginning of our Essence Unveiled process (aka brand design in muggle-speak) that Lynda is creating for Thrivecraft with Maggie Kay.

Chatting with tea, flowers, candles, incense, opening the ceremonial space in the Cider House annex, a beautiful view over the garden, guided meditation, sharing my history and vision for the future, seeing around Thrivecraft Home Hub and meeting Patrick, eating delicious lunch, walking to the river, asking the river for a message, exploring meaningful words (and messages from them), a spontaneous blessing / prayer to close, a letting go ritual to complete in the coming days…

That’s how we roll… 😄

So rich and resonant and inspiring – full of promise! Just knew Lynda was the one to help me articulate Thrivecraft for the relaunch this autumn.

And her husband Mike drove her all the way from Sussex and back today, because she felt it was important to tune into my home and energy. Such amazing service. Thank you! 💕

Fri 13 Jul – new moon

Today, Friday 13 on the new moon and eclipse, I’ll be completing my Essence Unveiled explorations with a letting go ceremony.

Lynda spent the day with me 10 days ago to deeply tune in to me so she can create and design the brand images and visual identity that truly communicates who I am and what I offer for my relaunch in September.

Our last exercise was generating a list of things to let go of, as directed by ‘Freedom’ who was speaking through me. Lynda suggested I make a fire and ceremonially burn the list. I didn’t feel ready on the day – knowing some more was to come.

And oh boy did it come!

Part of the list was about needing to be a good girl, to always get it ‘right’ and not upset people – being attached to being approved of and to people pleasing.

Yet the very next day, I inadvertently displeased a close friend and a huge wave of feeling awful about myself tossed me around for a week.

I dreamt about other friends who I’d also inadvertently upset in the past, including an estranged friend I bumped into and spoke to a couple of weeks ago (which is probably what sparked the whole thing off.)

Fortunately, on Wednesday I had a session booked with my excellent coaching buddy and dear friend Terry Brightwater

He helped me see that I’ve been suppressing feelings of being rejected, criticised, judged and disapproved of my whole life as a ‘survival strategy’.

His advice was to just let myself feel all the hurt and pain I’ve been resisting – and that’s exactly what I did – I felt ghastly, but the world did not fall apart and by yesterday it had all washed through me and gone.

What freedom not to have to work so hard to avoid judgement and disapproval!

I’m not sure why my survival strategy is to avoid being judged as I had a very happy, affirming and loving upbringing, but I do know I am super sensitive to criticism and I’ve been saying for a while I’d like to heal and release that.

Perhaps it belongs to a past life. I relate to what Kimberley Jones calls the Witch Wound – fear of persecution for being magical.

Which is interesting because the Essence Unveiled process has revealed that I want to embrace and communicate my magical and spiritual nature and inspiration more explicitly and publicly in my life and work.

I began my Essence Unveiled ceremony on summer solstice, continued the day after charging all my crystals up under the full moon and am completing today.

Friday 13 new moon eclipse seems like the perfect day to ceremonially burn my list of things to let go of.

For me to truly show up and be seen by the global new audience I’m now aiming to reach and serve, I pledge to courageously stand in the truth of who I really am and shine brightly, no matter what people think of me!

Photo taken just after the ceremony – only ashes left in the crucible and wearing my Essence Unveiled unicorn pendant.

Tue 17 July – taking shape

So much magic in my continuing Essence Unveiled (branding and design) process with Lynda.

As she shares images, colours, energetic connections, symbols and ideas from her work with me so far, I’m electrified with inspiration!

Recently we’ve been talking about my Scottishness – nature, ancestors, landscapes – so I sent her this blog with videos of me in Scotland five years ago reclaiming my original name (click link below to view).

Srimati becomes Maggie Kay

And then realised I was wearing the same cardi as in the videos, though I’ve rarely worn it since!

Also noticed we have Scottish thistles growing right by our gate here in Cornwall!

Plus I woke with a powerful dream about reclaiming a large community house I’d allowed to become squatted.

Feel there’s a lot of reclaiming Scottishness going on! Sense my ancestors cheering me on!

Can’t wait to reveal the results of Essence Unveiled to you in a few weeks time – I’ll keep you posted!

Exciting new developments

You may wonder why it’s been a bit quiet on here of late, well, it’s because we have been working intensively behind the scenes creating our fabulous new Thrivecraft Academy!

pexels-photo-347135.jpeg

In September, we’ll be opening applications for our brand new Thrivecraft Take the Leap coaching programme – a fully supported 90 day transformation experience for you and your business that you can join from anywhere in the world.

Also in the autumn, our accredited Thrivecraft Coach training programme will be relaunched having moved onto it’s new platform, specially designed to make your home learning even more streamlined and straightforward.

From early 2019, Thrivecraft Meditation Foundation and accredited Meditation Teacher training courses will follow, with further new programmes to come after that.

To help us with all this, I’m being mentored intensively by coaching business expert, Kenny Goodman.  I have learned from experience how much easier it is to have the right coach or mentor in place to help make the leap.

Plus we have commissioned brand designer Lynda Mangora to create Thrivecraft’s new visual identity over the summer, ready for the big autumn launch.

And I am delighted to announce that Thrivecraft has recruited a fantastic new VA – online business manager, Amy Kneale.  Amy will be handling much of the implementation and technical side of Thriveraft so that I can focus on coaching, course creation and delivery.

Although benefiting from our amazing new online learning platform, Thrivecraft programmes will continue to be led by 1-1 and group coaching – a powerful mix that ensures flexible learning with deep support at every step.

More on all of this coming soon!  Look out for prelaunch news over the summer.  And if  you have any ideas of things you’d like to train in or have specific issues you’d love help with, let us know.  We are creating the future Thrivecraft together.

How I Found My Soulmate

Thrivecraft with Maggie Kay

Extract from my new book

Diving for Pearls: The Wise Woman’s Guide to Finding Love.

How did I manage to find my true love and soul mate?

“Totnes is full of single mothers and hardly any single men” – my new friends in Devon were quite adamant.  “I hope you’re not expecting to find a partner down here!”  But I wasn’t moving to rural south west England to find a partner, not yet anyway.

After 16 years living in a Buddhist community in London, it was time to move on, and my longing for a rural lifestyle could no longer be ignored.  But most importantly of all, my seven-year-old son, Jamie, deserved a more gentle upbringing than a city could afford.

Despite the good reasons, however, there was also an element of strange magnetism I couldn’t put my finger on.  In many ways I was leaving a great situation…

Five Steps to Set Your Life Free

For many of us the autumn is a time of fresh starts – time to start a course, get stuck in and create something new, or make a change in our lives.  So the dreams and ideas are there, but are we able to see them through?  What about when we come up against obstacles or lose our motivation?  It is challenging doing it all by ourselves, however, getting the right support can make all the difference between creating a dream and making it a reality.

That’s why at Thrivecraft we have our Set Your Life Free workshop in October.  During the weekend (at our stunning countryside retreat, the Thrivecraft Home Hub, near Saltash in Cornwall), we take a complete life coaching journey to set in motion our dreams and plans supported by tried and tested know-how and inspiration.

front-gardenHere is my quick guide to setting your life free:-

  1. REVIEW

Review your current situation thoroughly.  Identify where you are content and fulfilled and where you need and want to make changes, including scoring each area of your life – work, money, relationships etc – on a scale of 1 to 10 (where 10 is excellent).

  1. REVISION

Allow yourself to fantasize about a life that is like a dream come true in every respect and describe it in writing.  Don’t worry about whether it is possible, if you deserve it or how to make it happen.  For now, imagine that there is a magic wand that can create that ideal life instantly.   Step inside your ideal life and describe it in entirely positive terms and as though it is happening now (in present tense language).

  1. RELEASE

Often when we allow ourselves to own and declare what we truly desire, our fears and doubts come to the surface.  These doubting inner voices are the very things that keep us small and safe and living life in our comfort zone, even if we are not happy with it.  One way of helping to release these ‘limiting beliefs’ is by writing out positive affirmations and repeating them out loud every day.  For example, if we cannot believe that we will ever meet our ideal partner, write out “I am delighted to have met my ideal partner so quickly and easily.”

  1. RE-COMMIT

Now that we have created our ideal life vision and released some of our inner resistance about moving towards it, we create a practical plan and take action.  Identify one or two things from your ideal life that you would like to make a start with.  Taking them one goal at a time, be as clear as possible about what you would like to achieve and when you would like to achieve it by.  Think of what you can do to support your progress and what help you might need along the way.  Write out the steps you will take and begin to take action, one small step at a time.  It helps a great deal if you can share your plans with an accountability partner – a friend or coach that you report to regularly on your progress.

  1. RE-EMPOWER

Step five is about adding a sprinkle of magic!  At Thrivecraft we specialise in coaching spiritual and metaphysical intelligence – powerful principles and practices that inspire us and allow us to make rapid progress.  Equipped with these tools, we take quantum leaps and create miraculous manifestations with ease.  One of the practices we teach is the Ah Om manifestation meditation.

You can download instructions for the Ah Om meditation and the other life coaching exercises mentioned above at Maggie Kay Wisdom Free Resources

Better still, come along to a Thrivecraft workshop to boost your Set Your Life Free journey, or dive in to a personal coaching programme or retreat with Maggie for exclusive one-to-one attention.  There is also the opportunity to train with Maggie to become an accredited Thrivecraft Coach or Meditation Teacher including business coaching to set up your professional practice and make a great living.

Ten Tips for Easy Meditation

We’ve all had those moments.  Suddenly, we are totally absorbed in a thing of great beauty – an incredible golden sunset on a beach, a piece of heart soaring music that moves us to tears.  The rest of the world disappears.  There’s only this wonderful experience, filling us, thrilling us.  Anything we were doing pauses.  Anything we were thinking melts away.  We are transported into vivid aliveness and feel like we are standing in the center of the universe.

This aliveness is our natural state.  It is waiting beneath and below all the complicated layers of our life ready to greet us.  All we have to do is remember to drop in from time to time – visit the oasis, refresh ourselves – and we can take that aliveness back into our everyday life.  Somehow, then, our troubles aren’t quite so troubling.  We feel like our emotional batteries are charged up.  We can see more clearly how to deal with things.

This is essentially what we are doing when we sit down to meditate.  It’s so easy to forget our natural, alive state that we need to do something routinely to remind ourselves.  So, we build reminder time into our daily pattern – get up, brush our teeth, have a cup of tea, meditate – and that way we don’t forget to remember!  As little as ten minutes spent like this every day can invite the aliveness back into our life.

So, how to we do it?

1. Decide what you are doing

Before you start meditating, be clear how long you will sit for and what kind of meditation practice you will do.  Have a silent watch or clock within sight so you can open your eyes and peek at the time if you need to.  You may notice that you soon don’t need a clock.  Before long you will instinctively ‘feel’ that the time you’ve allocated is up and it’s time to come out of meditation.

2. Choose your time

It makes a big difference if you can stick to the same time to meditate every day (or every other day or every week – whatever routine you establish).  If you pick your time and stick to it you don’t have to keep re-making the decision to meditate and figuring out when.  It just becomes part of your day or week.

First thing in the morning is great.  It’s well worth getting up half an hour earlier to give yourself this start to the day.  Some people prefer last thing at night when everything is over.  Or perhaps your best time is when you get home from taking the kids to school.  Or maybe after getting home from work and just before dinner.  Whatever time you pick, have a satisfied tummy – neither hungry nor overfull.  Choose your time and make it part of your daily or weekly routine.

3. Find your quiet spot

Find a place where you can be quiet and undisturbed.  Be in a room on your own (unless others are meditating with you).  Unplug your phone and switch off your mobile.  Be out of earshot of TV or radio.   Let others know to leave you in peace.

It’s nice to set the scene for your self.  Perhaps face a garden window or a vase of flowers or an inspiring picture.  Burn some incense or essential oils.  Make this your special meditation spot.  You will find that this place will start to have a peaceful atmosphere, a meditation ‘vibe’.

4. Be comfortable

Find a chair where you can sit comfortably in an alert, upright position.  A dining room chair is good, or an easy chair.  You can also prop yourself up at the head of a bed.  Undo any tight clothing, buttons or zips.

Wherever you are sitting, support your back with cushions so that your spine is reasonably straight and your head and neck is free.  If you are on a dining room chair you can put a cushion under your feet.  If you are in an easy chair you can see if you prefer having your legs folded up cross-legged.  If so, make sure your knees are supported with cushions if needed.

Some people like to sit on a pile of cushions on the floor, or a meditation stool.  If so, put a blanket down first as a mat, then your cushions or stool on top.  Two or three firm cushions are about right.  At the right height your back is not bowing or arching but relatively straight.  You can straddle the cushions like a horse, or sit with your legs folded in front of you cross-legged. Support your knees by tucking extra cushions under them if they don’t reach the ground so you can relax at the hips.

However you sit, you should have a strong base – a tripod of your backside and your two knees. Have your hands resting in your lap.  Tying a shawl or scarf at your tummy gives a little shelf to rest your hands on if you like.

There’s always the option to lie down on a bed or the floor if you think you’d be most comfortable like this.  The only draw back is that you may find yourself feeling sleepier than if you were sitting upright.  None the less, the number one priority is that you are comfortable.  So if lying down is right for you, that’s fine.

Close your eyes lightly, or have them half open if you are very sleepy or disoriented.

If you get stiff or pins and needles while you are meditating, gently and slowly move and re-position yourself and carry on.  However, the idea is to find out how to sit completely comfortably for an extended period of time without having to move, so keep playing with your posture until you get it just right.

When you are settled, close your eyes lightly, or have them slightly open if you are very sleepy or disoriented.

5. Let the weight drop down

Take several big, long, deep, deliberate, audible breaths.  As you breathe out, let your weight drop down through the sitting bones – down, down, down through your seat and the floor into the ground.

Even as we let our weight drop down, we are also aware of an invisible force supporting us upright.  It’s as though we have a taut string attached the crown of our head, reminding us of our natural poise and alertness.  The more we relax and drop down, the more we feel effortlessly supple and upright.

6. Relax and soften

Relaxing further, roll your shoulders a few times each way.  Then move your head gently from side to side.  Make some wild faces to release your face muscles (nobody’s looking!).  Let your jaw hang slightly slack and your tongue be free. You can use your hands to gently massage your jaw, cheeks and forehead.  Carry on over the scalp and down the back of your neck.  Give your shoulders a bit of a squeeze then stroke down your arms to your fingers.  Continue down the body with your hands, squeezing or stroking all the way down to your toes.  You can hang over your toes for a while.  Keep breathing easily and slowly uncurl.  Finally, shake out your hands and finish with a nice stretch.  Come back to a relaxed, upright sitting posture again.

Take a few more strong breaths. Let your tummy be soft.  Check your jaw is still slack and that the tongue is free.

7. Drop into the breath

Notice how you are breathing now, however it wants to come and go.   Feel how it is to be breathing, how you feel inside yourself, the rhythm of the breath as it comes and goes.  Let yourself be filled with breath.  It’s as though your whole body is breathing, expanding and contracting with every in and out breath.  Feel your breath right down to your toes, to the tips of your fingers, to the roots of your hair.

8. Give your head a rest

As you’re breathing, you may be aware of questions and preoccupations rippling around in your mind.  It probably feels like its going on in your head.  However, invite your thinking mind to rest for a little while. It’s not needed for few minutes.

Soften your eyes, let your eyes go soft and dewy (even though your eyes are closed you can do that) and let the brain itself feel slack in your head.  Just feel the breath going in and out the body.  Breathe in and out and let all those thought particles fall through the breath like dust particles falling through the air in a sunny room.  Let them all fall to the ground.

9. Feel into your heart

Breathing into the body, notice how you are physically feeling around your heart area in your chest.  Can you feel if it is tight or relaxed? Can you feel if your heart feels nice, or if it feels pain, or somewhere in between? Can you feel if your heart feels far away or if it feels very vivid and acute and present?

And whatever it is or isn’t, just noticing it as you breathe. Feeling the texture and the tone of our heart.  You might be aware that there is a kind of atmosphere – an emotional atmosphere around your heart.  You might not have a name for it, but you can feel its ambience, its flavour.

Perhaps you can even sense its colour – the colour of your emotional heart right now. You might not see it exactly, but whatever occurs to you – the colour or colours of your heart. Even if it’s not what you expect, even if it’s not what you want, notice the colour.

10. Being with all that you are

Continue to breathe with all that you are – all that you think, all that you feel, all that you sense, and all that you know.  Gather yourself into the breath and let yourself drop into the vastness of your total being.  Getting into this zone is a meditation in itself, and you need do nothing more.  However, you are now also ready to take it further into a focused meditation if that’s what you’ve chosen.
